When interested, a child becomes self-motivated. Self-motivation leads to self-discipline.
When self-disciplined, a child engages in a process of mastery and develops his or her potential.

Higher Elementary (Grade 3-6)Ages 9 to 12

At Daffodils Academy Higher Elementary provides a curriculum carefully planned and designed. We integrate the Canadian curriculum with our Montessori Curriculum so that students are well acquainted with the current national education system.

At this stage, we introduce a wide range of investigation and exploration through the subjects they learn such as mathematics (arithmetic, geometry, pre-algebra), language arts, and social studies (science, history, and geography). A systematic series of activities and exercises helps every child to get well-versed with all their studies. We reinforce information in several cycles through the use of concrete materials. We prepare our students to apply their math competencies in more challenging methods. For example, we teach students fractions, decimals and percents, basic pre-algebra, and statistics. Higher Elementary students will apply their geometric competencies to learn how to build 2D shapes and volume of 3D shape models. In language, we take up literature, comprehension, and essays. We will also take up a wider range of topics on Drama, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Geography, History, Anthropology, Government will be part of our curriculum.

Music, Art, ballet, and Technology programs will continue to be a segment of our Lower elementary specialty programs.

Junior High (Grades 7-8) Ages 12-15

At Daffodils Academy we offer a two-year Junior High program. This program is focused on areas of Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Geography, History, French, Music, Visual Arts and Physical Education.

The program is developed to teach students to manage the level of responsibility and

develop strategic thinking which is a critical part of growing up. As children grow into the adolescent stage their behavior starts to change and at this point, their energies need to be directed into the right direction. This is a very challenging time for these young adults as they transform from childhood to adult stage.

At Daffodils Academy, we have a small number of students in each classroom, so we are able to provide each child the attention they need, guide them accordingly, and also encourage them to emerge from the Junior High program as confident, responsible, and highly self-motivated successful active citizens ready to take off in life in their chosen career paths.

Our Specialty programs and Extra-curricular activities will continue to be offered to children. We will continue to give students the opportunities to try new things, work on creative team projects, and motivate children to engage in outdoor and indoor extracurricular activities.

All of our programs are well-planned and designed to have the following attributes:

  • Low student/teacher ratios
  • Hands-on learning through experience
  • Involvement in Individual and small-group projects
  • Child conducive environment
  • Rich programs geared for children to think divergently.
  • Experience real-life situations to relate to the real world
